City' Clerk <br />RE: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING INTERIM LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE <br />TREE TRIMtMING AND PLANTING CONTRACT <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City <br />Manager to enter into a contract with Lukes' Landscaping, Inc. for interim landscape maintenance. <br />tree trimming, and planting services. <br />REASONS <br />The City does not have the resources or the equipment to maintain, trim and remove trees, or make <br />necessary planting adjustments to the medians on Collins Avenue throughout the entire City. We are <br />in the process of preparing and bidding a substantial median, park, and right-of-way maintenance <br />contract. We expect that contract to be in place by the end of the year. However, in the interim, it is <br />important that we do a major cleanup of the landscaping along Collins Avenue. <br />In addition to the maintenance and tree trimming and removal, Lukes' will be planting or re -planting <br />the narrow medians in various locations on Collins Avenue, from the Burger King to City Hall. <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION <br />Under the City's procurement ordinance, we have the ability to utilize an exemption from competitive <br />bidding in order to accomplish this urgent need by utilizing the publicly bid contract terms and <br />conditions that Lukes' Landscape operates under with the City of Aventura.
