CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />Bid No. 01-09-01 <br />Page No. 28 <br />PARKS/MEDIANS/RIGHT-OF-WAY MAINTENANCE <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />A. Mow and edge all lawn areas every ten (10) days from October 1 thru April 1 and <br />every seven (7) days from April 1 thru October 1 (44 cuts) <br />B. Remove and properly dispose of all visible grass clippings from site. <br />2. Edging <br />A. Edge, as required, to maintain a neat, clean appearance. <br />B. Maintain shape of planting beds as originally designed. <br />3. Trimming <br />A. Lift all trees over 20' height and adjacent to walks and vehicular areas to a minimum <br />of 12' of clear trunk. Maintain minimum of 8' clear trunk for all other trees. <br />B. Trim shrubs and ground cover within all median islands, as needed, to meet the <br />criteria set forth in FDOT Index 546, which mandates a maximum height of 24" from <br />top of adjacent curb. <br />C. Remove dead and dying fronds from palms, as needed, for clean appearance. Use <br />no climbing spikes. Trim Coconut Palms (frond and fruit removal) three times per <br />year. <br />D. Selectively trim existing trees in accordance with National Arborist Association and <br />Dade County standards and practices, to maintain a minimum of 8 feet of clear <br />trunk. Remove suckers, shoots, and dead or dying branches. All tree, palm, and <br />shrub pruning is included in this contract. <br />E. Do no major tree or shrub pruning between November 1st and March 15th, unless <br />requested by City. <br />F. Maintain integrity of original design when trimming. Do not box plants whose <br />habits of growth does not lend itself to this type of trimming. <br />G. Use no machete for trimming. <br />H. Haul away all trimming debris from site, and properly dispose of at contractor's <br />expense. <br />
