<br />RESOLUTION NO.2001- 3Qlc, <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE <br />MOTION OF JULY 15, 1999, TO DISSOLVE THE CITIZEN ADVISORY <br />COMMITTEE FOR SUNNY ISLES BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT AS <br />AN ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO THE CITY COMMISSION ("CAC") <br />TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR AND ALL OTHER PARTIES <br />NECESSARY TO TRANSFER FUNDS DONATED TO THE CITIZENS <br />PUBLIC SAFETY ADVISORY COMMITTEE OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />INC., INCORPORATED PRIVATELY AS A 501 (c) (3) CORPORATION; <br />AS PERMITTED BY LAW; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on or about Tuesday, November 10, 1998, the Police Citizens Advisory <br />Committee ("CAC") ftrst met as an advisory committee to the City Commission, and conducted its <br />business thereafter until by motion made and supported unanimously on July 15, 1999, the City <br />Commission dissolved such committee so that it could become a private organization; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on or about October 24, the Citizens' Public Safety Advisory Committee of <br />Sunny Isles Beach, Inc. a not-for-proftt corporation, was established to undertake the activities of <br />the former Advisory Committee to the Commission; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the CAC collected approximately a total slighrly less than $23,000, to be spent <br />in accordance with the needs of the Police Department and as the Committee deemed appropriate; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, now that the privately held not-for-proftt corporation has been fonned, the <br />City Commission must authorize the Mayor, and whomever else is necessary, to transfer those funds <br />from the CAC checking account at Colonial Bank to a bank account selected by the newly fonned <br />Citizens Public Safety Advisory Committee of Sunny Isles Beach, Inc.; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this transfer will complete all business of the CAC as an advisory committee to <br />the City of Sunny Isles Beach City Commission into a privately held and operated group; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF <br />THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. Incorporation of Recitals: The recitals set forth hereinabove are incorporated into this <br />Resolution by references as fully set forth herein. <br /> <br />2. Authorit;y of the Mayor to Transfer Funds: The City Commission authorizes the Mayor <br />and whomever else is necessary, to transfer the monies previously collected by the CAC to the newly <br />fonned by the 501 (c) (3) Citizens Public Safety Advisory Committee of Sunny Isles Beach, Inc., a <br />private non-for-proftt corporation, in order that it may continue the efforts of the fonner CAC, <br />independent of the government of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, and further authorize the Mayor <br />take whatever action is necessary to effectuate that transfer. <br /> <br />1 <br />
