r r <br />r <br />MEMORANDUM Agenda Item No. 10(A)(5) <br />TO: Honorable Chairperson and Members <br />Board of County Commissioners <br />FROM: Steve Shiver ' <br />County Manager <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />DATE: April 23, 2002 <br />SUBJECT-, Interlocal Agreements for <br />Web Services. <br />The attached resolution is submitted to authorize the County to provide consulting, web design <br />and web hosting services to municipalities within the County and to authorize the County <br />Manager to execute, extend: and terminate agreements with those municipalities in accordance <br />with the terms of such agreements. The work to be performed under each agreement is in line <br />with the Chief Information Officer's vision to. work cooperatively with municipalities to form <br />partnerships, and achieve economies of scale. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Miami -Dade County proposes to enter into an agreement between the County and city <br />governments in which the County will. provide consulting and web design services to the. city. <br />Essentially, the County will serve the needs of the City of Sunny Isles Beach in the role of <br />services vendor. Details are available in the attachment "Proposal for E- Government @ the City <br />of Sunny Isles Beach." <br />In the last year, Miami -Dade County has designed and implemented a web portal, <br />www.miamidade.gov which has received nationwide recognition for ease of use, intuitive <br />design and functionality. , This year, Miami -Dade County was rated fourth out of 400 in a <br />nationwide competition conducted by the Center for Digital Government, which focuses on state <br />and local government web sites and. is considered to be the `Oscars' in the government web <br />arena. <br />Representatives from t he C ity o f S unny Isles B each b ecame aware o f t he C ounty's n ew w eb <br />portal and contacted the County to get information about the portal; specifically to share how we <br />got started and to work with them to create their portal. A proposal was submitted to the city <br />describing the IT consulting and design services that would give the City of Sunny Isles Beach a <br />web portal similar to Miami -Dade County's portal. <br />At the March 19, 2002, City of Sunny Isles Beach Commission meeting, the agreement between <br />the County and the City was approved. The proposal is' now pending the County's approval <br />before we can begin the work. <br />Attachments <br />
