L.,\ Acting City Clerk Date: September 18, 2003 Re: Resolution Accepting Results of the General Election Held on September 9,2003, and Discharging the Canvassing Board for the General Election RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting the results of the General Election held on September 9, 2003, accepting Danny Iglesias as City Commissioner Seat 03 as a result of his running unopposed, and discharge of the Canvassing Board for the General Election. REASONS: A General Election was held on Tuesday, September 9, 2003, for City Commissioner Seat 01 (Northern Residential Area). This Resolution accepts the results of the General Election declaring Lewis Thaler elected as City Commissioner Seat 01, and Danny Iglesias as City Commissioner Seat 03 (Southern Residential Area), who was automatically elected, having no opponents. This Resolution also discharges the Canvassing Board for the General Election, with many thanks to Emanuel Pine who served on the Board with the City Manager and the Acting City Clerk. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A Special City Commission Meeting will be scheduled to administer the oath to Danny Iglesias and Lewis Thaler as City Commissioners, and the new officers will be installed and shall enter upon the discharge of their duties, effective 30 days after the General Election,October 9,2003.
