Florida. 33160, dated JahU~rY , ""Of) L( . <br />-; <br /> <br />PROJECT LOCA nON: City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida <br /> <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION: State Road 826/Sunny Isles Boulevard Project. <br />To provide funds for the design and construction of the State Road 826/Sunny Isles Boulevard Project. <br /> <br />SCOPE OF SERVICES <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The City of Sunny Isles Beach will design and construct the State Road 826/Sunny Isles Boulevard. The <br />project will include traffic calming improvements by the reduction of one lane on SR 826 eastbound, <br />improvement of pedestrian crossings, sidewalk widening, traffic calming features, lighting, and landscape <br />enhancements <br /> <br />PROJECT TASKS <br /> <br />The "Sunny Isles Boulevard Transportation Study" completed in December, 2002 by the Florida Department <br />of Transportation, District 6 Planning Office identified and recommended this project as the preferred <br />alternative. The implementation of this project, as approved by FDOT, the Miami-Dade Metropolitan <br />Planning Office (MPO) and the City, will consist oftransitioning State Road 826 eastbound from a five to <br />four-lane section to provide room for wider sidewalks and safer pedestrian/vehicular operation. <br /> <br />The limits of the project are from approximately the Intracoastal Waterway Bridge to Collins A venue (A lA). <br />This section of SR 826 will be designed for the City by their consultant, Marlin Engineering, Inc. The City <br />has agreed to use their own funds to design and construct the traffic calming, beautification and resurfacing <br />project for SR 826 during Fiscal years 2004/05, and to be reimbursed for construction and CEI costs during <br />Fiscal Years 2007/08 with funds already programmed in the Department's Work Program. <br /> <br />This project design includes preparation of construction plans for roadway milling and resurfacing, drainage <br />improvement, extensive landscaping and lighting upgrade. Permitting and coordination with involved <br />Agencies are part of the activities of this project. The project is being coordinated with the MPO and the <br />Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). Once the bid process and contractor selection are completed, <br />all construction activities and construction engineering inspection will immediately follow. <br />
