Watts,Director
Public Works Department
Date: May 12,2005
Re: APPROVAL TO REPLACE PLANTS ON
COLLINS AVENUE &159TH STREET
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve Luke's Landscaping to replace approximately
1,600 plants on 159"Street and various median locations on Collins Avenue. The cost of this
project is $ 15)92.00.
i il,442DD
REASONS:
As the City Landscape Architect,Mr.Bill O'Leary is responsible for the periodic inspection and
evaluation of our foliage. Replacement of the above plants are from his recommendation and in turn
was sent to Luke's Landscaping for the attached proposal.
In the case of 159'street, most plants were either dying from old age or damaged during the
installation of a new lighting system.
Damage to plants located in Collins medians are the results of wind blown sand, people walking on
them and motorist losing control of their vehicle and driving in a median.
