<br />accepted in writing and in advance by the CONSULT ANT. <br /> <br />B. Material Review and Certification: <br /> <br />I. The CONSULTANT shall review all materials identified as "matched", "tree form" or <br />"specimen", or as defined in these specifications, at the nursery source to verify species, <br />vigor, size, condition, shape, quantity, for compliance with specification and drawings. <br />Request for nursery review shall be received at least five days prior to the desired review <br />date. CONTRACTOR shaH tag all trees and palms before inspection. <br /> <br />2. Photographs or representative, individual samples to the satisfaction of the CONSUL T ANT, <br />shall be submitted for review and acceptance ofaH other plant materials. Samples of plants <br />shall be subntitted to the CONSULTANT for review as indicated on the plans, or as <br />requested by CONSULTANT. <br /> <br />3. Inspection certi ficates shall accompany the invoice of each shipment or order of stock, as <br />may be required by law for transportation. Upon completion of installation deliver all <br />certificates to CONSULTANT. <br /> <br />4. Submit one quart sample of specified mulch and planting soil for review and acceptance by <br />CONSULTANT. <br /> <br />1.04 MATERIAL HANDLING <br /> <br />A. Delivery and Storage <br /> <br />I. Deliver all items to the site with all labels intact and legible at time of CONSULTANT'S <br />inspection. <br /> <br />2. Immediately remove from the site all materials which do not comply with the provisions of <br />this section of these specifications. <br /> <br />3. Use all means necessary to protect materials before, during and after installation and to <br />protect installed Work and materials of all other trades. <br /> <br />B. Replacements: In the event of damage or rejection, immediately make all repairs and replacements <br />necessary to the acceptance of CONSUL T ANT at no additional cost to CITY. <br /> <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> <br />2.0 I MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS <br /> <br />A. Planting Soil: For plants and trees, use a weed and rock free mixture of60 (sixty) percent fresh water <br />sand (medium to coarse grade) and 40 (forty) percent Florida Horticultural Grade Peat thoroughly <br />mixed with a commercial shredderlblender or equivalent. <br /> <br />I. Peat shall consist of ninety percent (90%) organic peat and shall be suitable for horticultural <br />purposes. <br />2. Peat shall be brown in color, clean, low in content of mineral and woody material, pH 4 to <br />5, and shall be shredded into particles not larger than one-half inch (1/2 ") in diameter. <br />3. Peat shall contain no more than thirty-five percent (35%) moisture and the ash content not <br />exceed ten percent (10%) and free from weedy grasses, sedges, rushes, or mineral matter <br />harmful to plant growth. <br /> <br />02900-2 <br /> <br />, B'.' <br />~ <br />
