Russo, City Manager <br /> <br />DATE: June 9, 2005 <br /> <br />RE: Parking License Agreement With Fortune Beach, LLC <br /> <br />RECOMMENDA TION <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution approving a Parking <br />License Agreement with Fortune Beach, LLC ("Fortune"). <br /> <br />REASONS <br /> <br />The City has a lease agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") for the <br />use of the parking lots and surrounding property under the William Lehman Causeway and the <br />Sunny Isles Boulevard Causeway. These agreements permit the City to collect a daily fee from <br />the general public for parking in these parking lots. In an effort to relieve some of the <br />construction related congestion on Collins A venue, Fortune has requested use of a portion of the <br />parking lots under the William Lehman Causeway and the Sunny Isles Boulevard Causeway for <br />the parking of employee cars, trucks, and construction equipment. In exchange for the Parking <br />License Agreement, Fortune has agreed to construct park-like improvements at the western <br />portion of the parking lot under the Sunny Isles Boulevard Causeway. The estimated value of <br />the improvements is Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00). <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION <br /> <br />In December 2003 the City entered into a similar agreement with Tangiers, an affiliate of <br />Fortune, for the use of parking spaces at the William Lehman parking lot. However, this <br />agreement terminated on December 1,2004.
