Note for those materials that may require root pruning, the relocation <br />schedule to begin at the end of the specified root pruning period. <br /> <br />C. <br /> <br />Contractor shall apply and secure any and all permits if required by any city, state, or <br />federal agency or governing body. <br /> <br />1.05 GUARANTEE <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Guarantee all plant material for a period of twelve months after date of Substantial <br />Completion. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Replacement plants under this guarantee shall be replaced within two weeks of rejection <br />and guaranteed for twelve months from date of installation. <br /> <br />c. <br /> <br />Repair damage to other plants, lawn or construction work during plant replacement at no <br />cost to the Owner (this includes, but is not limited to, damage to curbs, walks, roads, <br />fences, site furnishings, etc.). <br /> <br />1.06 TAGGING <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Trees and shrubs within the designated areas for relocation shall be clearly marked by <br />means of yellow plastic surveyor's ribbons and coordinated with Landscape Architect <br />and shall be inspected and approved by the Owner's representative prior to root pruning <br />and/or digging. <br /> <br />1.07 ROOT PRUNING <br /> <br />06/05 <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Trees to be relocated shall be root pruned at least 45 days prior to digging with clean, <br />sharp equipment. No mechanical means (ie. Backhoes) may be utilized for the root <br />pruning only shovels or jackhammer type shovels shall be permitted. A pneumatic <br />excavating tool may be utilized to expose the roots at locations within 5' from existing <br />trees to better route lines or pipes to preserve the root mass of those trees noted to <br />remain. The specific requirements for root ball sizes shall be in accordance with the <br />table below or to the drip line of the tree. The root-pruned trees shall be watered 3 times <br />a week by Landscape Contractor as part of this contract. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Palms and shrubs to be relocated shall be root pruned at least 30 days prior to digging, <br />with clean, sharp equipment. Palms relocated by tree spade may forego the root-pruning <br />requirement, but shall adhere to root ball size charts below. <br /> <br />c. <br /> <br />Root Ball Size Chart - Note: Root ball sizes shall be in accordance with minimum <br />standards set forth in Grades and Standards for Nursery Plants Part II, Palms and Trees, <br />Florida Department of Agriculture. <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />LARGE SHRUBS - Minimum Ball Sizes: <br /> <br />a. <br /> <br />Caliper <br /> <br />Minimum Ball Diameter <br /> <br />02481-2 <br /> <br />03-4138.8 <br />
