<br />An analysis of the current level of service (LOS) for parks and open space - 2.75 acres <br />per 1,000 residents factored into the current number of households and by the <br />household size- reveals the City is operating at a higher LOS than what is needed for <br />the existing number of households and for future growth. The 2004 estimated <br />population of the City is 16,580, which would require 45.6 acres of parks and open <br />space. The City currently has 21.9 acres of parks and open space and 96 acres of <br />beach. In an effort to maintain an adequate LOS, the City is looking to add more open <br />space through the development review process; currently, development incentives are <br />being offered for more open space on new projects.
