<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005-B.!:l.9 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, RATIFYING <br />A MOTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION TO PROVIDE <br />THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER WITH THE <br />AUTHORITY TO PURCHASE ANY AND ALL GOODS <br />AND SERVICES NECESSARY DUE TO HURRICANE <br />WILMA AND A MOTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION <br />TO SUSPEND THE CITY'S FORMAL PURCHASING <br />PROCEDURES DURING THE DECLARED STATE OF <br />EMERGENCY; AUTHORIZING THE INTERIM CITY <br />MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on Wednesday, October 26,2005, the City Commission held an Emergency <br />Commission Meeting to address the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at that Emergency Meeting the City Commission stated their desire to <br />provide the Interim City Manager with the authority to purchase any and all goods and services <br />necessary to combat the effects of Hurricane Wilma; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at that Emergency Meeting the City Commission further stated their desire <br />to suspend the City's formal purchasing procedures during the Declared Local State of <br />Emergency; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this resolution seeks to formalize the intentions and actions verbalized by <br />the City Commission at the Emergency Meeting of October 16, 2005, with respect to purchases <br />during the Declared Local State of Emergency. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Authority to Purchase Goods and Services. The City Commission hereby ratifies <br />the motion to provide the Interim City Manager with the authority to purchase any and all goods <br />and services necessary due to Hurricane Wilma without having to seek further authority. <br /> <br />Section 2. Suspension of Formal Purchasing Procedures. The City Commission hereby <br />ratifies the motion to suspend the City's formal purchasing procedures from the date of the <br />Declared State of Local Emergency (October 23, 2005) through the date of the Termination of <br />Local State of Emergency (November 1,2005). <br /> <br />Section 3. Authority of City Manager.
