RESOLUTION NO. 2006--818 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR, RECEIVE AND EXPEND MONIES FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE THROUGH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,784.00 WITH NO CASH MATCH REQUIRED; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice, through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement has made available a Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) in the amount of$ 8,784.00 to the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department. WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department will purchase the necessary equipment to create an "Emergency Traffic Support Unit Trailer" to include a 6' x 12' single axel trailer. This trailer will be available to mobilize within minutes to any location within the City and will be equipped with the necessary equipment to secure, stop or redirect traffic at the scene of any traffic related or traffic effected incident. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Authorization to Receive and Expend Grant Money. The Chief of Police and/or the City Manager is hereby authorized to receive and expend $8,784.00 of grant funds for the purchase of the necessary equipment to create an "Emergency Traffic Support Unit Trailer". Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of January, 2006. JAG Grant 2006
