<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006--818 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR, RECEIVE AND <br />EXPEND MONIES FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF <br />JUSTICE THROUGH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF <br />LAW ENFORCEMENT, JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT <br />(JAG) IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,784.00 WITH NO CASH <br />MATCH REQUIRED; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER <br />TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS <br />RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice, through the Florida Department of Law <br />Enforcement has made available a Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) in the amount of$ 8,784.00 to the <br />Sunny Isles Beach Police Department. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department will purchase the necessary <br />equipment to create an "Emergency Traffic Support Unit Trailer" to include a 6' x 12' single axel <br />trailer. This trailer will be available to mobilize within minutes to any location within the City and <br />will be equipped with the necessary equipment to secure, stop or redirect traffic at the scene of any <br />traffic related or traffic effected incident. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Authorization to Receive and Expend Grant Money. The Chief of Police and/or the <br />City Manager is hereby authorized to receive and expend $8,784.00 of grant funds for the purchase <br />of the necessary equipment to create an "Emergency Traffic Support Unit Trailer". <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of January, 2006. <br /> <br /> <br />JAG Grant 2006 <br />
