John Szerlag, City Manager

,~

Derrick Arias, Information Technology Director

May 18, 2006

Agreement with Homework, Inc. for Customization and Installation of
PTWin32

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution approving an
agreement with Homework, Inc. for customization and installation of the PTWin32 System for
the Building Department.

REASONS:

The City is in need of a vendor to provide configuration and customization of the PTWin32
software to meet the Building Department's needs. We contacted the manufacturer of the
software, Black Bear Systems, as well as two local vendors, Homework, Inc., and Jorge Lopez,
in order to obtain 3 proposals for the work. The manufacturer, Black Bear Systems, declined to
provide a proposal for the requested work. The other vendor, Jorge Lopez, did not respond.

Homework, Inc. has done work for the City previously, when the PTWin32 software was
initially purchased in 2001. This vendor has also done a significant amount of configuration and
customization work for the City of North Miami Beach, which is very pleased with the results.
After visiting the City of North Miami Beach to see their implementation, we selected
Homework, Inc to perform the work as identified the scope of work attached to this resolution.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Funding for this contract, for a total amount not to exceed Sixteen Thousand Eight Hundred
Ninety Dollars ($16,890.00), will be provided by the Building Department Technology Fee
Fund. This is a one-time expenditure for this fiscal year.

051806 Homework Ptwin32 Customization Agenda Memo

Agenda Item i 0 c.,
Date c:;~ I <l, 0 L:,
