Grandinetti, Police Captain <br /> <br />Date: November 16, 2006 <br /> <br />Subject: Authorization to Apply For, Receive and Expend Grant Money from the Miami- <br />Dade County, Federal Drug Control and System Improvement Program (Byrne <br />Grant FY 2006/2007) for the purchase of digital cameras and accessories for <br />securing photographic evidence. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission approve a Resolution authorizing the City Manager <br />to apply for, receive, and expend monies from the Miami-Dade County Federal Drug Control <br />and System Improvement Program (Byrrie Grant) in the amount of$4,607.00 (75% Grant Award <br />of$3,455.00 and 25% in Matching Funds $1,152.00), and to provide matching funds as may be <br />required. <br /> <br />REASONS <br /> <br />The City of Sunny Isles Beach Police Department has been given preliminary approval of grant <br />funds totaling $4,607.00 (75% Federal Grant Funds $3,455.00 and 25% Matching Funds <br />$1,152.00) in order to purchase digital cameras and accessories for all detectives and patrol <br />supervisors for the purpose of securing photographic evidence on domestic violence cases. <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION <br /> <br />Successful criminal prosecution on domestic violence cases often relies on the photographic <br />evidence of injuries taken on the scene. The purchase of these high mega-pixel digital cameras <br />will enable our officers to secure this necessary evidence. <br /> <br />The matching grant funds are budgeted and available in account # 10-521-5643 <br /> <br />Comm Memo Byrne Grant 06-07 <br />
