Grandinetti, Police Captain <br />Derrick Arias, Information Technology Director <br /> <br />January 18, 2007 <br /> <br />Authorization to enter into an agreement with Verizon Wireless to provide Wireless <br />Broadband Access for Data Connectivity between the Police Communications <br />Center and the Police Vehicles at a cost not to exceed $35,000 annually. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter <br />into an agreement with Verizon Wireless to provide Wireless Broadband Access for Data Connectivity <br />between the Sunny Isles Beach Police Communications Center, Records Unit and the Police Vehicles. <br /> <br />REASONS: <br /> <br />As the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department starts phase III (Mobile Data) of its implementation of a <br />Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management, and Mobile Data System, there is a need to enter into <br />an agreement with a reliable wireless data provider to provide a secure connection between our police <br />vehicles, police records unit and our police communications center for the purpose of data <br />communications and transfer of criminal justice information. Staff as researched and tested other wireless <br />providers and has found Verizon Wireless to be the most suitable for the needs of the Sunny Isles Beach <br />Police Department. Staff has requested and received a quote from Verizon Wireless under the State of <br />Florida Contract # MA4974 for the purchase of fifty-two (52) Sierra Wireless AC595 Air Cards and a <br />monthly subscription for connectivity of 52 mobile terminals at a total cost not to exceed Thirty-Five <br />Thousand Dollars ($35,000.00) annually. <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br /> <br />Funding for the above services were authorized and approved as a Federal Forfeiture Expenditure during <br />the May 18, 2006 Commission Meeting under Resolution 2006-921 (Sec.
