John Szerlag, City Manager <br /> <br />Doug Haag, Assistant City Manager, Finance Division <br />Derrick Arias, IT Director <br /> <br />June 21,2007 <br /> <br />IBM Computer Maintenance Services Agreement <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution approving the renewal <br />of computer maintenance services with IBM. <br /> <br />REASONS: <br /> <br />This agreement provides for software updates from IBM, which are unavailable from any other <br />source. Should the City not have a maintenance agreement in place, we would be required to <br />purchase a full software upgrade if any updates were necessary. Generally, application updates <br />(from New World Systems for the finance software) would be tied to requirements for more <br />current versions of the operating system, and the City would eventually be forced to upgrade in <br />order to stay current with the finance software. <br /> <br />In addition, the City staff are not trained/certified on the IBM iSeries platform.
