RESOLUTION NO~ 2007- J I ~ 2.. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROL ACT OF 1984 TO EXPEND THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($30,000.00) FROM THE FEDERAL FORFEITURE FUND FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND ASSOCIATED SOFTWARE FOR PHASE ONE OF THE DISASTER RECOVERY PLAN; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established federal forfeiture account, for the approved programs or purchases intended to enhance law enforcement purposes; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, upon the request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, federally forfeited funds may be expended if accompanied by written certification that the request complies with the provisions of the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984; and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000.00) in federally forfeited funds in compliance with the aforementioned. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Expenditure of Federallv Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached certification, the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend $30,000.00 from the established federal forfeiture account for the costs associated with the purchase of computer equipment and associated software for Phase One of the Disaster Recovery Plan.
