John Szerlag, City Manager <br /> <br />Jorge Vera, Assistant City Manager <br />Rick Conner, Director of Public Works <br /> <br />November 15, 2007 <br /> <br />Approval of an addendum to the contract with Marlin Engineering for <br />Subsurface Utility Exploration (SUE) on Sunny Isles Boulevard <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />We recommend that the City Commission approve an addendum to the contract with Marlin <br />Engineering for the design of improvements to Sunny Isles Boulevard, in an amount not to exceed <br />$46,973.85 for subsurface utility exploration to allow FP&L to move overhead electric lines to <br />underground locations. <br /> <br />REASONS <br /> <br />We have been working with Florida Power & Light for some time now to move their overhead <br />services to underground locations on Sunny Isles Boulevard. They have recently committed to the <br />project, and the timing is perfect considering we will soon be completely overlaying this segment of <br />the street. As part of this process, an SUE (the location of all other underground utilities) is needed. <br />We can wait for them to do it (one to two years) or we can do it for them and move this project to <br />completion.
