Director <br /> <br />November 15,2007 <br /> <br />Approval of Xerox Lease Agreement <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br /> <br />Currently, the City uses Toshiba as our vendor for copiers and they have not met our equipment <br />or service needs. We have communicated our dissatisfaction to Toshiba and have given them <br />ample time to address the issues, but the equipment continues to fail, and their service continues <br />to fail expectations. We recommend that we discontinue service with Toshiba and enter into an <br />agreement with Xerox due to the additional services Xerox will provide as well as their <br />company's industry standard reputation for service. <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br /> <br />Xerox will provide extra features at no extra cost. The first feature City employees will gain is <br />the ability to fax directly from their PCs, which has been asked for repeatedly. Currently we can <br />receive faxes but not send. City employees will also have the ability to turn paper documents that <br />would take hours to re-type and layout into perfectly formatted text documents in seconds. <br />
