John Szerlag, City Manager <br /> <br />Rick Conner, Engineering & Public Works Director <br /> <br />November 15, 2007 <br /> <br />Approval of Bucket Truck Purchase with Operator Safety Training Class <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the purchase of a <br />new bucket truck. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />A few months ago, the City sold its old 30 foot bucket truck for $13,925 that had been used since 1999. <br />Presently, the Public Works Department rents a 30 foot bucket truck. While the rental is useful for <br />everyday jobs it is inadequate for specialized projects. As such, staff is seeking to replace the rented <br />bucket truck with a new 2008 model 37 foot bucket truck. <br /> <br />Staff has received and reviewed two proposals from Duval Ford ("Duval") and Altec Industries ("Altec"). <br />Duval's proposal is cheaper at $73,754.00; however, the estimated delivery date is April 2008. The <br />proposal from Altec is slightly higher at $74,689.00 but includes an operator safety class and the truck <br />can be delivered mid-December 2007, for a total price of $77,369.00. <br /> <br />Funding is available for this purchase in the Fiscal Year 2007/2008 Budget, Account Number 10-539- <br />5642. <br /> <br />Additional Information: <br /> <br />Competitive bidding requirements have been met through the General Services Administration's ("GSA") <br />contract. <br /> <br />To be completed bv Department Head To be completed bv City Clerk's Oflice <br />Funding available: Approval; Agenda Item No.: --J () \ <br />Finance Department City Manager ll-/S-07 <br /> Commission Meeting Date: <br />
