Vera, Assistant City Manager/ Service Division~ <br />Robert Solera, Community Development Director U <br /> <br />December 13, 2007 <br /> <br />Amendments to the School Interlocal Agreement <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission approved the amendments to the School Interlocal <br />Agreement. <br /> <br />REASONS <br /> <br />The original intent of the School Interlocal Agreement was to foster better cooperation between <br />local governments and school boards for the purpose of sharing information concerning residential <br />development, population growth, capital improvements and the building of educational facilities. <br /> <br />Some of the changes to the Interlocal include, creating public schoollevels of service, concurrency <br />management system between the City and Miami-Dade County Schools, School Board obligation to <br />provide a financially feasible capital facilities plan, address projected growth in order to maximize <br />school capacity, provide way to mitigate if concurrency is not met. <br /> <br />These amendments have set the frame work for creating the City's Comprehensive Master Plan <br />Educational Facilities Element and implementing public school concurrency through the City's <br />Comprehensive Master Plan <br /> <br />Upon approval by the City Commission, the Interlocal Agreement will be transmitted to the <br />Department of Community Affairs (DCA), Miami-Dade County and Miami-Dade County Public <br />Schools. <br /> <br />Finance Department <br /> <br /> <br />Agenda Item No.: <br /> <br />Funding available: <br /> <br />To be completed by Department Head <br /> <br />Commission Meeting Date: <br />
