John Szerlag, City Manager <br /> <br />FROM: Jorge Vera, Assistant City Manager <br />Rick Conner, Director of Public Works <br /> <br />DATE: December 15, 2007 <br /> <br />REGARDING: Approval of an Agreement with Spillis Candela Architects for the design of the <br />Heritage Park and Parking Garage Facilities <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />We recommend that the City Commission approve an agreement for Architectural Services with Spillis <br />Candela for a contract to design the Heritage Park and Parking Garage Facilities in an amount not to <br />exceed $1,267,400. <br /> <br />REASONS <br />We have gone through an extensive and inclusive process of selecting a firm to design the Heritage <br />Park and the accompanying Parking Facility. This firm was unanimously chosen by the selection and <br />evaluation committee. We have negotiated what we consider to be a reasonable fee and are <br />therefore asking you to approve this contract. <br /> <br />ADDmONAL INFORMATION <br />We did complete a plan of which this is part. <br />We already have the right to use the property. <br />The total cost of the project is estimated to be approximately $14,000,000 and this amount is in the <br />fiver year plan for this project. <br />The operation and maintenance costs cannot be determined until the project has been designed. <br />The project is expected to be completed in 2010. <br />Funding is available in Account Number 20-600-5635 for the design phase in the amount of $1 <br />million.
