<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008- 12.50 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING <br />THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROL ACT OF 1984 TO <br />EXPEND SEVENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS <br />($75,000.00) FROM THE FEDERAL FORFEITURE (DOJ) <br />FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING COMPUTER <br />EQUIPMENT AND ASSOCIATED SOFTWARE FOR PHASE <br />TWO OF THE DISASTER RECOVERY PLAN; PROVIDING <br />FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City <br />and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established Department <br />of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeiture account, for the approved programs or purchases intended to <br />enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, upon the <br />request ofthe Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, federally forfeited funds may <br />be expended if accompanied by written certification that the request complies with the provisions of <br />the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of Seventy-Five <br />Thousand Dollars ($75,000.00) in federally forfeited funds in compliance with the aforementioned. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Expenditure of Federallv Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached certification, the <br />Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend $75,000.00 from the established Department of Justice <br />(DOJ) federal forfeiture account for the costs associated with the purchase of computer equipment <br />and associated software for Phase Two of the Disaster Recovery Plan. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />Effective Date.
