Acquaro, Dir. of Human Resources & Risk Management <br />Yael Londono, HR/Benefits Administrator <br /> <br />March 20, 2008 <br /> <br />Health & Dental Insurance Renewals (Calendar Year 2008) <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution to renew the City's <br />health insurance with United Health Care and to switch the City's dental insurance provider from <br />Guardian to Sun Life with a renewal date for both of April I, 2008. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br /> <br />The City's health and dental insurance review team met with the City's insurance broker <br />representatives Bob Hollander and Samantha Alvarez (Brown & Brown Insurance) in mid- <br />January to review the initial insurance renewal information that they received from the City's <br />current health insurance provider, United Health Care, and the dental insurance provider, <br />Guardian. The health/dental insurance renewal date is March 1, 2008. The insurance review <br />team members are Asst. City Manager-Finance, Doug Haag, Director of Human Resources & <br />Risk Management, Tom Acquaro, and HR/Benefits Administrator, Yael Londono. <br /> <br />As indicated on the attached report submitted by Brown & Brown, a total of twelve providers <br />were canvassed for both health and dental insurance and their input analyzed and options <br />discussed and further analyzed with the review team.
