<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008- /2.L. 'L <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING <br />AN AGREEMENT WITH MARLIN ENGINEERING, INC., <br />TO DESIGN, MANAGE THE INST ALLA TION AND THE <br />CONTRACTOR FOR NINE (9) PEDESTRIAN <br />COUNTDOWN SIGNAL HEADS ON COLLINS AVENUE, <br />IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED <br />TWENTY-NINE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-FIVE <br />DOLLARS ($129,165.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS <br />EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO <br />EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT; AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) had been working on the <br />design and placement of the pedestrian countdown signal heads at seven (7) intersections on <br />Collins Avenue by Marlin Engineering, Inc.; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach desires to place an additional nine (9) <br />pedestrian countdown signal heads on Collins A venue, with the easier to read and understand <br />signals for the safety and welfare of citizens and visitors; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in response to the City's Request for Qualifications No. 07-07-01 and <br />Resolution No. 2007-1188, the City qualified and ranked Marlin Engineering, Inc. for the <br />purpose of providing on-call general engineering services for various projects that may arise <br />throughout Fiscal Year 2007/2008; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City is now in need of a Consultant to design, manage the installation <br />and the contractor for the countdown pedestrian signal heads at all the remaining intersections on <br />Collins Avenue where traffic signals exist; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Marlin Engineering, Inc. has submitted a quote in an amount not to exceed <br />One Hundred Twenty-Nine Thousand One Hundred Sixty-Five Dollars ($129,165.00) to provide <br />these services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City enter into an agreement with Marlin <br />Engineering, Inc. using the same unit price bids submitted to FDOT on the additional nine (9) <br />intersections for said services, in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Twenty-Nine Thousand <br />One Hundred Sixty-Five Dollars ($129,165.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />R2008- Marlin Engineer Agmt Pedestrian Signals <br /> <br />Page 1 of2 <br />
