<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008 - 13DO <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A FIRST <br />AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT WITH SOUTHEASTERN <br />ENGINEERING CONTRACTORS, INC. TO EXPAND THE SCOPE <br />OF WORK FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CENTRAL <br />ISLAND DRAINAGE AND STREET IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT, <br />TO INCLUDE CURB AND GUTTERED STREETS WITH <br />INCREASED PARKING, STREET LIGHTING, LANDSCAPING, <br />AND ADDITIONAL IMPROVEMENTS TO SENATOR GWEN <br />MARGOLIS PARK, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FOUR <br />MILLION ONE HUNDRED TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED <br />FIFTY-FOUR DOLLARS AND NINETY-THREE CENTS <br />($4,102,554.93), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; <br />AUTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO EXECUTE SAID FIRST <br />AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE <br />THE TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has continuously experienced problems with flooding in the Central <br />Island area, and was in need of engineering services for drainage improvements in the Central Island <br />area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on December 18, 2003 the City Commission, via Resolution No. 2003-628, <br />approved an agreement with Beiswenger, Hoch & Associates for Stormwater System Design, <br />Technical Assistance and Bidding Process for Central Island Stormwater Drainage; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City issued and advertised Bid No. 07-10-02, for a contractor to furnish all <br />materials, equipment and labor for the Central Island Drainage and Street Improvements Project, and <br />determined that the bid response from Southeastern Engineering Contractors, Inc. was the lowest <br />responsible responsive bid; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on February 21, 2008 the City Commission, via Resolution No. 2008-1221, <br />awarded Bid No. 07-10-02 to and entered into an agreement with Southeastern Engineering <br />Contractors, Inc. to provide services on a unit price basis for the Central Island Drainage and Street <br />Improvements Project, in an amount not to exceed Three Million Six Hundred Thirty-Five Thousand <br />Eight Hundred Fifty-Two Dollars Two Cents ($3,635,852.02); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City now wishes to expand the scope of the original project to include curb <br />and guttered streets with increased parking, street lighting, landscaping, and additional improvements <br />to Senator Gwen Margolis Park; and <br /> <br />R2008- Southeastern I st Amendment Central Island Drainage Proj Page I of 3 <br />
