RESOLUTION NO. 2008- 1354 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, CREATING A JOINT COMMITTEE ENTITLED "CITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE"; PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS TO INCLUDE A CHAIRPERSON AND VICE CHAIRPERSON; PROVIDING FOR THE SELECTION OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS; PROVIDING FOR ANNUAL REPORTING REQUIREMENTS; PROVIDING FOR RULES OF PROCEDURES; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Section 74-8 of the Code provides that there shall be as many standing committees of the City Commission as the Mayor or City Commission deems necessary and that the City Commission may establish or terminate such Committees from time to time; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to create a new advisory committee entitled the "City Advisory Committee"; and WHEREAS, the City Advisory Committee ("Committee") shall be responsible for advising the City Commission on matters pertaining to the following: 1. Capital Projects; 2. Long Range Technical matters; 3. Planning & Zoning matters; 4. Social Welfare issues; 5. Tourism/Development; 6. Procurement; 7. Ethics; 8. Public Safety; and WHEREAS, the Committee shall be composed of eleven (11) members who shall be appointed for one-year terms to commence January 1 and end December 31 of each year and which may be renewed by the City Commission as often as desirable; and WHEREAS, the Mayor shall appoint three (3) members, to include a Chairperson and a Vice Chairperson, and each Commissioner shall appoint two (2) members to the Committee; and WHEREAS, Committee members shall be governed by the Rules of Procedure that govern the City Commission, the Florida Sunshine and Public Records Laws, and the terms of this Resolution; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: R200S-City's Advisory Committee Creation & Appointments Page I of 3
