<br />SECTION 30 <br />TRENCH SAFETY DESIGN <br /> <br />Part 1- GENERAL <br /> <br />30.1 Section Includes: All geotechnical, structural or other design considerations necessary for <br />trench safety design. <br /> <br />30.2 References: Department of Labor criteria and OSHA Safety and Health Standards (29 CFR <br />1926/1010), and the State of Florida trench safety criteria. <br /> <br />30.3 System Description: Design requirements. Designer shall have sufficient professional <br />engineering competence to designate necessary geotechnical investigation, interpret geotechnical <br />information, and formulate structural design. Performance Requirements. Provide for safety of <br />all personnel and the public present in or adjacent to any trench constructed under the scope of <br />this contract. <br /> <br />30.4 Quality Insurance: Qualification. Designer to have completed a minimum of 20 trench safety <br />designs in the last two (2) years and have had no trench safety design failures. Regulatory <br />Requirements. Conform to any local, State, and Federal laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances <br />covering design and trench safety designs. <br /> <br />30.S REVIEW PERIOD: The Consultant shall review submittals and respond to them within 10 <br />working days of their receipt. <br /> <br />Part 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> <br />Not included in this section <br /> <br />Part 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />30.6 Field Quality Control: Inspect the Work with sufficient regularity to assure compliance with <br />trench safety design. <br /> <br />END OF SECTION <br /> <br />PAGE 93 OF 130 <br />BID No. 08-10-01 <br />
