John Szerlag, City Manager <br /> <br />Jorge Vera, Assistant City Manager <br />Rick Conner, Director of Public Works <br /> <br />December 18, 2008 <br /> <br />Award of Bid No. 08-l0-0l/Agreement with Tenex Enterprises, Inc. for the SR <br />AlA/Collins Avenue Streetscape Improvements Project <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />It is recommended that the City Commission award Bid No. 08-10-01 to Tenex Enterprises, Inc., <br />for the Collins A venue Streetscape Improvements Project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City has long planned for a consistent streetscape theme along Collins Avenue. We <br />completed the design for the section between 18ih Street and the William Lehman Causeway <br />and went out to bid. The bid opening was held on December 8, 2008, with nine (9) responses. <br />After review of the bids, staff determined that the bid response from Tenex Enterprises, Inc. is <br />the lowest responsive responsible bid, in the amount not to exceed $968,319.27. Tenex has <br />proven themselves as a capable firm on several City projects, and they are the low bidder as well <br />(over $110,000 under the second low bidder). The reference checks were positive (as they were <br />for the Atlantic Isles Project). The consultant on the project, Kathy O'Leary has endorsed the <br />contractor.
