<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008-~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br />APPL Y FOR AND ACCEPT A FLORIDA RECREATION DEVELOPMENT <br />ASSIST ANCE PROGRAM (FRDAP) GRANT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, <br />FOR THE ACQUISITION OF HERITAGE PARK LOCATED AT 19200 <br />COLLINS AVENUE, IN AN AMOUNT OF UP TO TWO HUNDRED <br />THOUSAND DOLLARS ($200,000.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO TAKE ANY AND ALL ACTION NECESSARY WITH <br />RESPECT TO THE OBTAINING AND DISTRIBUTION OF GRANT <br />MONIES, AS APPROPRIATE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) provides <br />grants to governmental entities for the acquisition or development of land for public recreational <br />uses, in an amount of up to $200,000 (based on the project cost); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on April 11, 2006 via Resolution No. 2006-911, the City Commission <br />approved the purchase of approximately 3.82 acres ofreal property located at 19200 Collins Avenue <br />for open space/park purposes for residents and visitors of Sunny Isles Beach; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, obtainment of a FRDAP grant would reimburse the City in an amount of up to <br />Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00), if awarded; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is desirous of applying for grant money for the <br />reimbursement of the acquisition of the Heritage Park property located at 19200 Collins A venue. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Authority to Apply For and Accept Grant. The City Manager is authorized to apply <br />for and accept a FRDAP grant, in an amount of up to Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00) <br />for the acquisition of the Heritage Park property located at 19200 Collins A venue. <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is authorized to take any and <br />all action necessary with respect to the obtaining and distribution of grant monies, as appropriate. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of September 2008. <br /> <br />R2008- FRDAP Grant Acquisition 19200 Collins Ave ($200,000) Page I of2 <br />
