RESOLUTION NO. 2008---13ll A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPOINTING MIMI V. TURIN, ESQ. AS SPECIAL MASTER TO FILL THE SEAT VACATED BY JIMMY L. MORALES, IN ACCORDANCE WITH CITY CODE SECTION 14-3; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Section 14-3 of the City of Sunny Isles Beach Code provides that appointments of Special Masters shall be made by the City Manager, as needed, on the basis of experience, skills and abilities and, whenever possible, shall include persons with legal zoning, engineering and/or construction experience for a term of one year; and WHEREAS, said Section 14-3 provides that appointments shall be submitted to the City Commission for ratification; and WHEREAS, Jimmy L. Morales resigned as Special Master due to a conflict of interest; and WHEREAS, Mimi V. Turin, Esq. has extensive experience in administrative, zoning, land use, municipal, and governmental law and serves as the Assistant City Attorney for the City of Miami, Florida, and is currently Special Master for the City of Miami Gardens and a Board Member of the Zoning and Planning Board for the Town of Davie; and WHEREAS, Mimi V. Turin, Esq. is also a Certified Arbitrator and a Volunteer Arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau, an Instructor for law enforcement training, is Florida Bar Board Certified in City, County and Local Government Law, and in 2007 she was appointed to the Florida Bar Grievance Committee 11 K. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Appointment. Mimi V. Turin, Esq. is hereby appointed Special Master to fill the seat vacated by Jimmy L. Morales, is hereby ratified by the City Commission, in accordance with City Code Section 14-3. Section 2.
