Russo, City Manager <br /> FROM: Susan Simpson, Cultural and Community Services <br /> Director <br /> DATE: 9/15/2016 <br /> RE: Purchase of a Shuttle Bus from Atlantic Bus Sales in an <br /> Amount Not to Exceed $132,512.00 <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> This item is presented for your consideration. <br /> REASONS: <br /> The City's Community Shuttle Bus program provides service to residents and <br /> visitors 7 days per week, up to 12 hours per day, running up to 4 routes at one <br /> time on certain days. To manage this service effectively and efficiently, the <br /> Transportation Division requires no less than 5 reliable shuttle buses in their fleet. <br /> The average lifespan of a shuttle bus used this frequently is 5 to 7 years based <br /> on industry standards. The current fleet consists of 6 buses, one of which is 9 <br /> years old, one is 8 years old, 2 are 4 years old, 1 is 3 years old and one new bus <br /> purchased this year. With the purchase of this new shuttle bus, we will have a <br /> reliable fleet of 5 buses that are no older than 5 years old and will keep one older <br /> bus as an emergency back up. <br /> Atlantic Bus Sales is an authorized contractor through HGAC Buy, an interlocal <br /> contract for cooperative purchasing. Under our purchasing code, we may <br /> purchase a shuttle bus to our specifications through Atlantic Bus Sales in an <br /> amount not to exceed $132,512.00 as per the attached quote. <br /> FUNDING SOURCE: <br /> Funding for this item is budgeted for and available in the Transportation <br /> Division budget number 110.6.5440.464200 <br /> 598 <br />
