<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2009- 14 \ \ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A FLORIDA <br />DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (FDOT) LOCAL AREA <br />PARTICIPATION (LAP) GRANT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, IN AN <br />AMOUNT OF FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY -SIX THOUSAND SIX <br />HUNDRED FORTY DOLLARS ($456,640.00), FOR THE COLLINS <br />AVENUE STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT FROM 183RD <br />STREET TO 172ND STREET; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER <br />TO TAKE ANY AND ALL ACTION NECESSARY WITH RESPECT <br />TO THE OBTAINING AND DISTRIBUTION OF GRANT MONIES, AS <br />APPROPRIA TE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has grant funding <br />available through its Local Area Participation (LAP) Grant Program, with no match requirement; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to continue the Collins A venue Streetscape <br />Improvements from 183rd Street to 172nd Street, including widening and improving parts of the <br />west side sidewalk, and extension of the median on Collins Avenue at the 175th Street <br />intersection; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is desirous of applying for grant money in <br />the amount of Four Hundred Fifty-Six Thousand Six Hundred Forty Dollars ($456,640.00) as <br />part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (a/kla Federal Stimulus Funds); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to direct the City Manager to apply for a <br />$456,640.00 grant, from the Florida Department of Transportation through its Local Area <br />Participation (LAP) Grant Program, for the Collins A venue Streetscape Improvements Project <br />from 183rd Street to 1 72nd Street. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section I. Authority to Apply For, Accept and Expend Grant Funds. The City Manager is <br />hereby authorized to apply for, accept and expend funds from a Florida Department of <br />Transportation (FDOT) Grant through the Local Area Participation (LAP) Grant Program, in the <br />amount of Four Hundred Fifty-Six Thousand Six Hundred Forty Dollars ($456,640.00), for the <br />Collins Avenue Streetscape Improvements Project from 183rd Street to I 72nd Street. <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager.
