<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010-_\ 5:;t '7 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br />APPL Y FOR AND ACCEPT A MIAMI-DADE COUNTY METROPOLITAN <br />PLANNING ORGANIZATION (MPO) TRANSPORTATION <br />ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM (TEP) GRANT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, <br />IN AN AMOUNT OF ONE MILLION DOLLARS ($1,000,000.00), IN ORDER <br />TO CONSTRUCT A PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE/GREENWAY WITH <br />EMERGENCY ACCESS CAP ABILITY BETWEEN 172ND STREET AND <br />174TH STREET; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ANY <br />AND ALL ACTION NECESSARY WITH RESPECT TO THE OBTAINING <br />AND DISTRIBUTION OF GRANT MONIES, AS APPROPRIATE; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County's Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) <br />Transportation Enhancement Program (TEP) provides grants to governmental entities for <br />transportation studies through the Unified Planning Work Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City's Comprehensive Plan sets forth specific transportation goals for the <br />City to improve the safety and efficiency of roadway systems through transportation system <br />management techniques; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City adopted Resolution No. 2003-502 applying for a MPO Grant for a <br />transportation study for 172nd Street - 174 th Street in order to determine the feasibility and need for a <br />pedestrian/bicycle bridge; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City desires to construct a pedestrian bridge/greenway with emergency <br />access capability between 172nd Street and 174th Street; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, obtainment of a MPO/TEP grant in the amount of One Million Dollars <br />($1,000,000.00) would assist the City in offsetting the total cost of the bridge of which is Four <br />Million Five Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($4,550,000.00), and the City would fund the <br />remainder; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is desirous of applying for grant money in the <br />amount of $1 ,000,000.00, for the bridge. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Authority to Apply For, Accept and Expend Grant Funds.
