Hines, CMC, Cify Clerk <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />The Honorable City commi~i\~ <br />Hans Ottinot, City Attorney\~ '-' <br /> <br />September 18, 2008 <br /> <br />Resolution approving a renewed lease agreement with the Postal Service for the <br />lease of 1,200 square feet of office space <br /> <br />RECOMMENDA TION: <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached Resolution approving a <br />renewed lease agreement with the United States Postal Service ("Postal Service") for the lease of <br />1,200 square feet of office space in the City's Government Center. <br /> <br />REASONS: <br /> <br />The Postal Service currently leases 1,200 square feet of office space in the City's Government <br />Center for a branch post office. The current lease expires on March 31, 2010. <br /> <br />The proposed new lease is for a five year term, commencing April 1, 2010, through March 31, <br />2015, with an additional five year option renewal period until 2020. Under the proposed new <br />lease, the Postal Service will pay an annual rent of $21 ,000.00 per year. This represents a more <br />than 100% increase in the current yearly rent 01'$9,768.00. <br /> <br />During the optional renewal period, i.e. from April 1, 2015, through March 31, 2020, the per <br />annum rental will be the existing market value in the City.
