Preview

City of Sunny Isles Beach
18070 Collins Avenue
Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160

(305) 947-0606 City Hall
(305) 949-3113 Fax

MEMORANDUM

TO:

The Honorable Mayor and City Commission

FROM:

Susan Simpson, Cultural and Human Services Director

DATE:

2/18/2010

RE:

Resolution to approve the puchase of an Ocean Rescue vehicle

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the City Commission consider the attached resolution to approve
the purchase of a 2010 Ford F-150 from Gus Machado Ford, Inc. in an amount not to
exceed Twenty Four Thousand, Four Hundred Eighty Five Dollars ($24,485.00).

REASONS:

The Ocean Rescue Division is a 7 -day a week safety operation that relies heavily on
vehicles and equipment to cover the 2.5 miles of beach in Sunny Isles Beach. The
current Ocean Rescue vehicle is 5 years old and is frequently out for maintenance. In
order to continue to use that vehicle the transmission would need replaced as well as
several other less critical items that would cost a significant amount of money with no
guarantee of reliability.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This vehicle will replace the current Ocean Rescue truck. The current Ocean Rescue
truck will be auctioned through govdeals.com.

ATTACHMENTS:
. Resolution
.
