He was res~onsible for preparedness, response and recovery activities and lead the Department through 8 major hurricanes during the 2004 and 2005 season, Mr. Day was responsible for the reimbursement of approximately $1.5B of federal (FHWA & FEMA) funds. He was designated as the State of Florida Emergency Response Team Leader for Emergency Support Function 1 (Transportation) and Function 3 (Public Works and Engineerinq). Many missions were completed assisting local governments responding to and recovering from the 2004 and ~005 hurricane seasons, Mr.lJay was responsible for an innovative and extremely successful program 10 hire professional consultants to assist state and local governments with the complex FEMA-Public Assistance and FHWA-Emergency Relief Programs.
