Research Assistant. Created a time series analysis of melaleuca invasion consisting of several thousand acres of land located south of <br /> Lake Okeechobee. Utilized color-infrared satellite imagery and transfer scopes to map native versus non-native vegetative <br /> communities. Maps were ground-truthed by helicopter. Subsequent to issuance of permits, responsibilities included the preparation of bid documents and handling <br /> O/A meetings with potential contractors. Other responsibilities included monitoring water quality and exotic species removal and/ or <br /> herbicide treatment on the 300-acre mitigation wetland preservation area. The project involved conducting seagrass surveys, daily turbidity and manatee monitoring, supervision of <br /> construction activities such as canal dredging, the installation of shoreline protective barriers including rip-rap and floating turbidity <br /> curtains. Additionally, Ms. Boyd supervised the installation of mangrove plantings for shoreline stabilization.
