BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) <br /> <br />· The aquatic centesr were designed for Miami-Dade Parks & Recreation as part of the Safe Neighborhood Parks <br />. Program. The concept of the projects was to provide aquatic play centesr at existing swimming po os in an <br />. existing park in such a way to take economic advantage of existing facilities, and therefore minimize capital cost <br />. of the project. <br />In keeping with the concept, existing parking has been utilized and accessible parking has been provided along <br />. with an accessible path from this parking, through an existing bathhouse, to the new aquatic play area. Where <br />. required by the Health Department, plumbing fixtures have been added to meet current code fixture count <br />. requirements and upgraded accessible facilities have been provided in the existing bathhouse. The existing <br />bathhouse was used as the point of control for both the existing pool facilities as well as the new aquatic play <br />. facility. Aquatic filtration equipment was placed on grade to minimize costs. The aquatic play area includes a <br />. small area of grass and palms within the fenced area to soften appearance and to be used as a small picnic area. <br />Large umbrellas have been included on the multi-colored deck to provide areas of shade for supervising parents. <br />· Interactive water play structures can be used safely by small children on the spray deck that will not retain water. <br />. Design disciplines provided included architecture, landscape architecture, civil engineering, electrical and plumbing <br />. engineering, structural engineering and aquatic systems design.
