REASONS The City has invested millions of dollars in beautifying the streets and sidewalks of the City. As such, the City must take the appropriate steps to protect its investments by regulating street and sidewalk repairs. The purpose of the attached Ordinance is to establish minimum standards and specifications to govern street repair work on newly paved streets within the City's jurisdiction following the completion of utility work. Specifically, the contractor or utility company must restore the streets or sidewalks to the satisfaction of the City based on the guidelines of this Ordinance. The Ordinance requires the Permittee to repair the streets in accordance with certain specific standards and specifications. Additionally, the Permittee will be responsible for the condition of the street or sidewalks for a period of two years after completion of the repairs to ensure the repairs last. The Ordinance also requires a suspension of the permit and work stopped until the entity performing the work complies with the minimum standards and specifications.
