<br />A comprehensive network of arterial roadways and local streets serves the City and the coastal area.
<br />The City, as a barrier island, is fortunate enough to be connected to the mainland by two major
<br />causeways, the William Lehman Causeway and Sunny Isles Boulevard (SR 826).

<br />Within the City, Collins Avenue (SR AlA) is a divided highway running the length of the
<br />conununity and connecting to the two causeways. North of the City, Collins Avenue becomes a
<br />four-lane highway running through Golden Beach. South of the City, SRAIA provides access to
<br />Haulover Beach Park across the Baker's Haulover Inlet. The two main collector roads within the
<br />City are Atlantic Boulevard and North Bay Road.

<br />Based upon material developed by the Federal Emergency Management Association, the Flood
<br />Zone map (following page 27) depicts the areas within the City that are subject to potential coastal
<br />flooding. The rdatively small section of the City within the designated ~ zone has the potential
<br />for wave rdated damage. The ~ zone generally corresponds with the primary coastal dune,
<br />portions of which have experienced some revegetation.

<br />Those properties located within the "A" zone must comply with the minimum finished floor
<br />elevation requirements and provisions for on-site drainage retention set forth by the City or the
<br />South Florida Water Management District. Those requirements include minimwn floor elevations
<br />of +7.0 to 9.0 feet m.s.!.
