<br />ORDINANCE NO. 2006- '2,.1.&.1 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTIONS 256-7 AND <br />256-9 OF THE SUNNY ISLES BEACH PARKING AUTHORITY <br />ORDINANCEj PROVIDING FOR A 24-HOUR ON-STREET PARKING <br />PERMIT FOR RESIDENTS AND A MONTHLY PERMIT FEE <br />ARRANGEMENT TO ALLOW LONG-TERM ON-STREET PARKINGj <br />PROHIBITING THE ON-STREET PARKING OF COMMERCIAL <br />VEHICLES DURING SPECIFIED HOURS IN CERTAIN DESIGNATED <br />AREAS ALONG ATLANTIC BOULEV ARDj PROVIDING FOR <br />SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR REPEALERj PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the demographics of the City have changed from a transient to a permanent <br />community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is a shortage of parking within the City, and as such, the City <br />Commission desires to accommodate the parking needs of City residents while maintaining a <br />pedestrian-friendly on-street parking for tourists and visitors; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that a 24-hour on-street parking <br />permit for City residents and a monthly parking permit to allow long-term parking are in the best <br />interest of the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, to avoid unnecessary traffic congestion, the City Commission also desires <br />to prohibit the on-street parking of commercial trucks and buses in certain designated areas along <br />Atlantic Boulevard. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified <br />and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part by this ordinance <br />upon adoption hereof. <br /> <br />Section 2. PUI:pose and Intent. The City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach finds, <br />determines, and declares that there is a shortage of parking within the City, and as such, it is <br />necessary to establish a 24-hour on-street parking permit for City residents and a monthly <br />parking permit to allow long-term parking. This Ordinance shall be applicable throughout the <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach. <br /> <br />Section). Amending Section 256-7. Section 256-7 of the Sunny Isles Beach Code entitled <br />"Parking and No-Parking Areas" is amended to read as follows: <br />
