Solera, Community Development Director <br />Helena Forbes, Acting Code Enforcement and Licensing Assistant <br />Director <br /> <br />Jorge Vera, Assistant City Manager <br /> <br />February 15, 2007 <br /> <br />Revision to Local Business Tax Ordinance <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach Local Business Tax Ordinance revision. <br /> <br />REASON (5): <br /> <br />The Code Enforcement and Licensing Department is requesting a reVISion of the <br />attached ordinance in order to comply with recently passed bill, by Florida Legislature, <br />which changes the term "occupational license tax", in Chapter 205, to "local business <br />tax". Although Occupational License # 2004-194, Exhibit "A", Local Business Tax <br />Schedule, as adopted, provides definitions of business classifications, additional <br />definitions are necessary to be incorporated into the code. These additional definitions <br />will help to clarify applicants concerning the type of business they will be applying for, by <br />clearly defining "vocations, occupations, professions, enterprises establishments, and all <br />activities and matters, together with all devices, machines, vehicles and appurtenances" <br />along with overall required licenses.
