These construction sites have become a public nuisance due to
the fact that construction machinery like construction cranes has not been removed from
the site. These unused construction cranes pose a danger to the community because the
City is located in a high hazard area. Removal of the construction cranes is necessary to
protect the public. Staff has requested property owners to remove construction cranes that
are located on sites where there is no construction activity. Unfortunately, staffs request
has not been acted upon in a diligent manner.

To facilitate the removal of such cranes, staff believes the attached ordinance is
necessary. This ordinance requires the removal of construction cranes if the Building
Official determines that removal is required because of no construction activity. The
property owner and construction crane operators are jointly liable for removal.

A TT ACHMENTS:
. Ordinance
.
