Hines, CMC, City Clerk ~ Ix ~ <br /> <br />March 19, 2009 <br /> <br />Ordinance Amending Chapter 26 of the City Code to Provide for a New Article <br />III to Incorporate General Election Provisions <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />It is requested that the City Commission adopt the proposed Ordinance amending Chapter 26 of <br />the City Code to provide for a new Article III to incorporate General Election Provisions, <br /> <br />REASONS: <br /> <br />A Special Election was held on November 4, 2008, and in accordance with the majority vote and <br />official election results, the City Charter was amended, The City is required to hold elections for <br />the offices of Mayor and City Commission in a certain manner. It is now necessary to <br />incorporate general election procedures into Chapter 26 of the City Code to create a <br />comprehensive Election Code, The attached proposed Ordinance was amended since First <br />Reading as follows: <br />. Sub-Section 26-15 "Qualifications" was inserted; and <br />. Section 6, Effective Date was amended by adding "except the provisions relating to the <br />boundaries of the Residential Areas will not take effect until the 2010 municipal <br />election.
