Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting September 15,2016 City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida
employees. We are actually in the second year of a rate guarantee and so our rates are fixed
but when there is a basis where we have more vehicles than we had last year, more payroll,in
our experience modification our Worker's Comp has increased slightly. He is very glad we
accepted that rate increase last year because as of October 1 there is a potential rate increase
on Worker's Comp of almost 20% across the State of Florida. And so this is not a rate
increase, it is a premium increase due to increased payroll, vehicles, and experience rating
under Workman's Comp. Basically the municipalities that accepted a tier rate you are doing
very well, and even though the experience modifications has gone up,it is still excellent, you
are still 22%less than the standard, getting a nice credit under the Worker's Comp policy but
the overall rates are very competitive with the standard industry practice and best practices.
Commissioner Levin moved and Vice Mayor Gatto seconded a motion to approve the
resolution.
