Edelcup <br /> <br />DATE: August 10, 20 I 0 <br /> <br />RE: Resolution establishing a Fact Finding Beach Environmental Committee <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />This Resolution is presented for your approval. <br /> <br />REASONS: <br /> <br />It is recommended that a Fact Finding Beach Environmental Committee be established to identify <br />short and long term issues that impact the beach environment, evaluating potential solutions and <br />recommending policy and practices to City staff for administrative or City Commission action. <br />The Committee shall serve in an advisory capacity to the City Commission, consisting of the <br />Vice Mayor, the City Manager or his designee, and a resident with an interest in beach <br />environment issues impacting the City. <br /> <br />The Committee shall work closely with City officials and boards, as well as other federal, state <br />and local governmental agencies, including Miami-Dade County, on matters such as beach <br />pollution, erosion, cleanup, water quality, and sea turtle monitoring. The Committee will serve <br />as an advisor and liaison between the City Commission and City residents, ensuring that <br />important beach related issues are not only in the best interest of the City, but also have the <br />support and input of its citizens.
