<br />Summary Minutes: Regular City Commission Meeting September 16, 20 I 0 <br /> <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida <br /> <br />5. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br /> <br />SA. A Proclamation to be Presented Proclaiming November 13, 2010 as "Alzheimer's <br />Association 2010 Miami-Dade Memory Walk Day" in the City of Sunny Isles Beach. <br />Action: Mayor Edelcup read the Proclamation into the record and, on behalf of the <br />Commission, presented the Proclamation to Bill Sussman of the Alzheimer's Association. <br /> <br />5B. A Proclamation to be Presented Proclaiming September 16, 2010 as "Ocean Rescue Team <br />Day" in the City of Sunny Isles Beach. <br />Action: City Manager Conner reported noting that Police Chief Fred Maas wrote an article <br />in the current Sunny Isles Beach Community Newspaper regarding the Ocean Rescue Team <br />saving the life of a 5-year old girl from drowning in a pool. Mayor Edelcup read the <br />Proclamation into the record and, on behalf of the Commission, presented the Proclamation <br />to Lead Lifeguard Christopher Torbert, and Lifeguards Gregory Larson, Jesus Mezquia, and <br />Nestor Londono on behalf of the Ocean Rescue Team. <br /> <br />6. ZONING <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />7. ORDINANCES FOR FIRST READING <br /> <br />7A. An Ordinance of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Amending <br />Section 10-1 of Chapter 10 of the City Code Relating to Budget Procedures; Requiring <br />Approval by the City Commission for Current Year Proposed Operating Millage Rate <br />for Trim Notice Purposes; Providing for Repealer; Providing for Severability; Providing for <br />an Effective Date. <br /> <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Assistant City Manager/Finance MinaI Shah <br />reported that this will allow for a formal process to propose the millage rate that will be on <br />the Trim notices by Resolution. <br /> <br />Public Speakers: None <br /> <br />Commissioner Scholl moved and Vice Mayor Thaler seconded a motion to approve the <br />proposed ordinance on first reading. The motion was approved by a roll call vote of 5- <br />o in favor.
