Ft. <br />Cost: $600,000 <br /> <br /> <br />AFTER <br /> <br />The project at Southridge Senior High included <br />retrofitting an existing high school gymnasium <br />that had over 20 years of use. The scope of <br />work called out for new lighting, flooring, and <br />the replacement of the mechanically driven <br />bleacher system. During the course of the <br />architectural development. several issues were <br />resolved that were not originally expected at <br />the project inception. Dangerous levels of <br />mercury were found in the existing synthetic <br />floor system. The architect worked with <br />consultants to complete an investigation into <br />these hazardous materials (Hazardous <br />Materials Report) and value-engineered a plan <br />for replacement. Due to the age of the facility, <br />Architeknics, Inc. was also in charge of <br />construction administration and bringing the <br />entire facility into Code and ADA compliance <br />to meet the current life-safety standards of <br />South Florida and the Miami-Dade County <br />School Board. <br /> <br />BEFORE <br /> <br />25.
